Intel's IPEAK Power Management Toolkit has been developed to
help PC OEMs and IHVs to incorporate the Power Management initiative in product design and
system integration processes. The Intel Power Management Analysis Tool (IPMAT) is the
first to be developed for the Power Management Toolkit. IPMAT helps to ensure proper
integration of ACPI and Instantly Available PC by enabling
the capability to test for supported ACPI states at both the system and device level. The
tool can be used to qualify power management functionality, quantify power consumption,
and test the behavior of apps participating in Global System Power Management. IPMAT can
also be used for vendor selection and qualification by checking for the ACPI power
management support of hardware, devices, drivers and applications and the resume latencies
associated with the state changes. |
|
IPMAT offers manual, automatic and monitor modes of
evaluating ACPI device and system states with an option to select an individual
device/driver in the system. IPMAT interfaces to a digital watt meter to automatically
measure power and current consumed by the system under test. The digital watt meter is
required only if power and current measurements have to be recorded. IPMAT creates and
manages a database of baseboards, add-in cards, test configuration, PM qualifying
parameters, test results and applications. The results for each test run would be stored
in the database and available for a given baseboard and configuration at a later time for
analysis.
